Confession time: I’ve never been one to complain about my struggles to everyone, especially about my weight gain and cravings…
But people could look at me. They knew.
I just pretended not to care.
But it’s been my shadow, trailing me for as long as I can remember, dictating my happiness and self-esteem…
Yet, here I am. This was something I HAD to share.
If my story can help even one person out there… It’s worth it to me.
Sometimes, life just doesn’t go as planned.
I always thought I had my weight kinda under control, even with my thing for junk food and occasional weekend drinking.
I joked about how I could stop eating burgers and pasta anytime I wanted.
But then, after a certain age, it was like my cravings started calling the shots.
I work as a Marketing Manager, from home. My job keeps me at a desk for long hours, often well into the night after my kids have gone to bed.
The stress from deadlines and lack of movement got worse. I often skipped meals or opted for quick, unhealthy snacks while working late.
Growing up in a large family, meals were always in front of the TV with junk food, and this habit stuck with me into adulthood.
Out of nowhere, my weight started to creep up. It was slow at first, then all at once, it felt like I woke up heavier.
Despite eating less and trying my best to keep an exercise routine, I inexplicably gained 57 pounds over two years.
The weight just stuck to me, especially around my belly, my chin, and arms.
My friends tried all sorts of diets and it worked for them. But I felt like I was stuck.
What freaked me out the most…
Was that I didn’t even realize what was the problem.
People say, ‘That’s just what happens when you get older.’
I get it. Our bodies change and losing weight gets harder.
But how fast I was gaining weight… That just didn’t make sense to me.
I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. So, I started trying all kinds of things.
Vegan diet, fasting, gluten-free… you name it. I used to love working out, so I tried doing more exercise.
But the scale hardly budged.
I’d joke, ‘If this was 20 years ago, I’d be back in shape by now!’
And I know people notice. I faced it everywhere— if we had to turn on the camera at work, out with friends, at the doctor’s office, even at home with my husband. It made everything worse.
I had days when I felt a bit better, but losing weight still felt impossible.
One evening, right after dinner, pain shot through my chest.
It was a crushing feeling, like an elephant was sitting on me…
Panic set in as I struggled to catch my breath, and for a moment, I feared the worst.
My oldest daughter was the one to dial 911.
As I lay there, waiting for the ambulance, my husband said something that changed my perspective.
Usually calm and supportive, he was enraged. He yelled at me through his tears:
‘Our children need you. I need you!’ she cried. ‘You can’t keep doing this to yourself and to us!’
That moment was a wake-up call like no other.
At the hospital, hearing the doctor talk about heart issues and the risk of type 2 diabetes was overwhelming.
Apparently, I also had high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.
I realized everything all at once…
A week later, I was discharged from the hospital with a newfound determination…
I didn’t want to keep watching the numbers on the scale go up and feeling powerless.
I didn’t want to go down this path.
I wanted to be there for my husband and our kids. I wanted to be in for the long run.
My mind was clear: just accepting this wasn’t an option for me.
I went to meet a friend over coffee one day.
She’s older than me, yet somehow defied the age-related weight gain that seemed inevitable for the rest of us.
She wasn’t a gym fanatic or a strict dieter, but she radiated health.
She said, “It’s got nothing to do with insane diets or living at the gym. Loving french fries and donuts is fine, but carbs… they’re everywhere. We don’t even notice it.”
That hit me hard. My “healthy” choices weren’t so healthy after all. They were full of starchy foods I didn’t even know about.
“Cutting down on carbs changed everything for me,” she explained, “And I only noticed that when I tried a no-carbs challenge.”
After that, she helped me take a hard look at my diet.
And it shocked me… those carb-heavy foods were hiding in plain sight.
My snacks, my drinks, even my “good” food choices were packed with it.
Inspired, I decided to cut back on carbs, too. Not by following a strict diet, but by being more mindful about what I ate.
I definitely needed help finding balance.
So then I started the challenge she recommended…
Once I started this challenge, things began to shift.
But I’ll admit it. At first, I was a little bit concerned.
The meals looked good, but I worried about eating too much.
Three meals and two snacks a day? That sounded like a lot.
Don’t I need to eat LESS to lose weight?
But this challenge was different. It wasn’t just about cutting out carbs. It balanced everything else, too.
With my desk job, I hadn’t worked out in years and had a hard time building muscle. I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to get fit again.
The no-carb challenge helped me reintroduce exercise into my life. Simple home workouts were suggested that I could fit into my schedule, making it easier to stay active.
As days turned into weeks and the challenge came to an end, I noticed something amazing. This was working.
It wasn’t just about eating less. It was about eating right. Foods that filled me up and kept cravings away.
When the challenge was over, only 19 days later, I had lost over 36 lbs.
That’s because I am eating foods that actually work for my body, not against it…
✅ I started losing weight. Finally.
Currently, I’m over 50 lbs down.
I can’t explain how great that feels.
My clothes fit me again…
And while I still have a few more pounds to lose, I’m looking a lot more toned.
The challenge offered specific exercises to do at home – with no equipment, or using the equipment that I already had gathering dust.
These were a nice bonus, but not necessary to get results.
But more than the numbers, it’s looking at my family and knowing I’ll be here for them that excites me.
✅ Energy is up, cravings are down for good.
The no-carb challenge drastically reduced my cravings for junk food. It’s like I’ve broken free from a cycle I never thought I’d escape.
I’ll admit that going through it, I thought I would have to suffer and completely eliminate my favorite foods, but it was a steady journey, introducing little habits that I could maintain in the long run.
Now, I find joy in foods I’d previously ignored – foods that nourish and satisfy me without feeling heavy or bloated.
Also… I am not dragging myself through the day anymore.
It helps that I’m not putting that much weight on my knees anymore.
But I used to blame my tiredness on everything but my junk food meals.
Proper nutrition – and cutting down on carbs – is key to feeling energetic, vibrant, and curbing the cravings away.
✅ I am not burned out all the time anymore
I learned to respect myself more and not push through exhaustion.
My long work hours might be draining, but I now use my free time to exercise, prep meals with the husband, do pilates, and spend quality time with my friends and family.
I’ve started leaning away from my workaholic tendencies, making sure not to skip meals anymore.
Snacking is still a part of my life, but now it’s with healthy options that I can enjoy guilt-free.
Dinner around the table with my family also became a nice routine, giving us time to connect and enjoy good food together.
This isn’t just about managing cortisol; it’s about loving how I live. Every day feels like a choice for my well-being.

Every exam confirms that my health is in check.
Starting this challenge helped me revitalize how I look and how I feel. It’s invaluable.
I also felt like my heart didn’t have to work as hard anymore.
Doctor approved, and slowly reducing the risk of diabetes.
After the challenge was over, I found myself actually enjoying the plan and sticking to it way easier than I thought.
I guess that’s what professional plans are for…

Thank you so much for this! I definitely forget that bread isn’t always healthy lol Just finished the quiz and waiting for my plan, I appreciate the opportunity to try this.
The challenge and program are so professional and I feel like I’m getting help not being talked down to. I have learnt so much following ther guidance in the last few days more than my doctors in LA have given me in 4 years! Now I can make changes and first it’s goodbye to carbs.
